Grand Theft Auto 6 series has already extended its launch period for another 2024 release according to August news reports. But, a massive shocker dropped yesterday when  a user on GTA forums(NOTE: it can be taken down later) by the name of 'teapotuberhacker' posted around 90 videos claiming they were running with "GTA 5 and 6 source code and assets". According to the player these videos were snatched from a test build of the Grand Theft Auto 6 game. 

All the socials went crazy & posted different screenshots over Twitter, Youtube, Reddit & elsewhere to decode the secret footage represented by the player. According to a legit report claiming the entry of a new female protagonist in GTA 6 series, in August along with other Map details, GTA geeks were already pumped up for more insider intel.

Seems like their combined longing for the game resulted in reality! The leaked videos of GTA 6 series were already trending & suggested it will have multiple playable characters, one woman(duh!), under a cool Miami-ish LA surrounding. Some said the leaked footage was from an older build.

Not that there was much doubt, but I’ve confirmed with Rockstar sources that this weekend’s massive Grand Theft Auto VI leak is indeed real. The footage is early and unfinished, of course. This is one of the biggest leaks in video game history and a nightmare for Rockstar Games

According to a report by The Verge, the game was running on RTX 3060Ti and RTX 3080, suggesting that the game was not older than two years. Whereas, Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, also confirmed the authenticity of leaked footage by saying-

What is in The GTA 6 Leaked Video?

The disclosed footage of GTA 6 series showcased a player-character named Lucia who was robbing a waffle restaurant with an ally named Jason. They built hostages as easily as you’d expect from a local Pulp Fiction. A meter ticks over the 'Time Until Cops Dispatched', it upholds various inspiration from the Red Dead Redemption 2, adding in the mannequin NPCs clipping through objects, placeholder dialogues like "Jason: GENERIC_CURSE_TO_SELF", and a cop car that's been recycled from GTA 5 only with V.C.P.D. written on it.’

Altogether, consuming the previous GTA 6 leak that confirmed the game development that began in 2014, will still proceed. It was initially entitled 'Project Americas' considering the maps & vibe of the game. Some of those versions represented players running on a PlayStation 4 dev kit too, that may be several years old. Still, if all of them’s are legit & get confirmed by the creators later on. Then it seems hard to get our hands on the finished version even till 2025. Let’s see what Rockstar games has to say besides- “remove the footage from socials”!
