Facebook Gaming App was released in 2018 to gain more gaming users. But now Meta is discontinuing its app which will be taken down from both Google Play Store & Apple App store| Know what’s the reason for Facebook Gaming App shutdown & More.
With the surge of gaming on every social platform, Meta has decided to make a shocking pullover. They are shutting down their Facebook Gaming App from Meta just after 4 years of mere working. Facebook Gaming app will be discontinued on October 28, on both Android and IOS platforms. Further, The Apple App Store and the Google Play Store will also remove the designated app from the collections.
The news broke out through an official website’s banner stating,
“Despite this news, our objective to connect players, fans, and creators with the games they love hasn't changed, and you’ll still be able to find your games, streamers, and groups when you visit Gaming in the Facebook app”... “We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of you for everything that you've done to build a thriving community for gamers and fans since this app first launched,"
Beginning & End of Facebook Gaming
Meta introduced its Facebook Gaming App in 2018, Fb.gg to contend with the growing dominance of Twitch and YouTube during those times. The main idea for Facebook gaming was to attract more creators and audiences, rising under the gameplay Livestream and videos niche.
After administering a wide expansion, they decided to bring the service to smartphones with iOS and Android apps in 2020, as their main arsenals.
Later, Facebook during the app launch Facebook encountered many more struggles, as Apple rejected the app citing its rules as the main issue numerous times. Eventually, Facebook gaming was released in the Apple Store. They also added new features such as the 'Clips to Reels' option( we witness today on Youtube) for all creators to convert their live gameplay into short clips or Reels.
Initially, it was a good run for Facebook gaming to lure as many customers as they could. Many gamers even shifted from Twitch to Facebook Gaming under great offers. But as the offers ended, they retreated taking their audience with them.
Meta didn’t reveal any official reason for this abrupt shutting down of the Facebook Gaming app, but such an audience fall can be one of the reasons for this Gaming giant to retire on mobile.
