EA (Electronic Arts) to Shut Down Apex Legends Mobile in May 2023
You heard it right! The Apex Legend Mobile game will not be available after May 1 2023 at 4:00 pm PDT based on the latest tweet by EA. Currently, the in-game purchases have been disabled inside the game, and the company has requested players to use any accumulated currency on their in-game accounts.
Respawn Entertainment officially said,
“We have made the painful decision to sunset Apex Legends Mobile. This decision does not come with ease. Factors beyond our control have prevented us from maintaining the high-quality experience and content that our players deserve.”
Onto which the developers added-
“As a result, the game will sunset on May 1, 2023, at 4 pm PDT, after which it will no longer be playable. Our gratitude to our players and teams for joining us on Apex Legends Mobile, even if for a short while, is unending. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you,”
Apex Legends was released on May 16, 2022, and shutting it down before it has even completed a year, is definitely a shocker for everyone. Previously, the company said, no refunds would be issued for in-game purchases as per the terms of the EA User Agreement.

Players Demanding 30-60 Days Refund
Obviously, EA can’t be like Google in terms of refunds & send it all back! Still, players are asking for a refund of transactions made within the last 30–60 days at least. The company even recently released a lunar new year shop just before announcing the game’s sunset.
Apex Legends Mobile was fun to play but it seems like it wasn’t able to muster as many players compared to other mobile games like Call of Duty Mobile or Free Fire. Some are saying it was due to the complexity of the game, as it required powerful operating devices for seamless functioning.
Along with that, development for the upcoming Battlefield Mobile is also being ceased by the company. In the financial report for the third quarter of the fiscal year 2023, EA announced the closure of the Industrial Toys studio, which was involved in the development of the game. It substantially implies, the company will focus on the development of the upcoming Battlefield title and improving battlefield 2042 to better fulfill its goal for the Battlefield brand and satisfy its players’ expectations after giving such a shocker in the middle of the year!
