Lenovo is more likely to shift its focus to the Motorola line of devices instead of the Legion gaming series. Check why Lenovo took this extreme step to lay off its gaming series altogether.

Based on an official Android Authority report Lenovo's Legion lineup of gaming smartphones that was once hyped in the market for its SSD RAID storage and pop-out cameras will soon be shutting down as 'part of a wider business transformation and gaming portfolio consolidation'.

A Lenovo spokesperson said in a statement

‘As a leader in gaming devices and solutions, Lenovo is committed to advancing the gaming category across form factors, as well as focusing on where it can bring the most value to the global gaming community.’

Legion Was First Launched in 2020

Lenovo Legion series first entered the gaming markets in 2020 with the launch of the first Legion Pro gaming smartphone. Later in 2021, they released another Legion Phone Duel 2 and the Legion Y70 in August last year. No wonder these gaming smartphones possessed some innovative features including side-mounted pop-up selfie cameras, dedicated cooling fans, dual charge ports, and many more. All of these features catered well to the gaming audience of Lenovo.

But in the long run, it seems like Lenovo couldn’t hold up these creations. Based on some recent reports, Lenovo even laid off some workers at its facility while the rest of them were transferred to business lines such as Lenovo’s tablet division.

After the shutdown of Lenovo’s Legion gaming smartphone, the smartphone industry for games is left with promptly performing ASUS ROG Phone series, Nubia Red Magic series, and Xiaomi’s Black Shark phones. Xiaomi’s Black Shark gaming smartphone is also struggling with sales recently. On the contrary, ASUS is going aptly great & it’s gearing up for another ROG Phone 7 gaming smartphone to be released on April 13th, 2023.

A major bridge between specialized gaming smartphones and mainstream usual smartphones is reducing as the technology is encountering more convergence.
