Tamil Nadu Government Bringing Back Online Gaming Ban Bill
Tamil Nadu’s Financial Minister Palanivel informed that the online game ban bill will be reintroduced by the Tamil Govt. Have a look at the upgraded regulations for online gaming in Tamil Nadu, India.
The Tamil Nadu Government is deciding to reintroduce the bill for prohibiting online gaming in India. Further, it will be presented to the legislature for approval. Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, Tamil Nadu's Finance Minister, confirmed about the decision to media.
In the cabinet, he stated that-
"The bill is very solid. You get any scholar to opine on it, it is very solid. In fact, yesterday, the Union Minister somewhere opined that it's within the rights of Tamil Nadu to pass such a bill,"
The bill was put forward in response to concerns about the rising impact of online gaming on youngsters. It aims to prohibit online games that encourage gambling and other unhealthy behaviors, especially in the growing generation of India.
Rajan also informed that the Bill will be sent back to the governor once it receives approval from the state legislature. Further, it depends on the governor who if approved bill then it will be transformed into a central law.
In fact, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had previously expressed his concerns about the necessity of a centralized act for online gaming in India to regulate gambling & other games of luck and chance appropriately. For now, there are 19 Indian states and union territories which have passed legislation governing online gaming and gambling.
